Reason for selecting VR-7:
The primary reason is that this airfoil was designed for high lift, not fast forward flight (ref: Boeing Vertol). It also is probably the reason that Ultrasport selected this airfoil. This maybe an ideal blade for the SynchroLite but is it the answer for a higher speed UniCopter? Using the VR-8 profile at the tip may help.
The following consists of information related to the construction of composite rotor blades. Require 4 left hand and 4 right hand.

Profile: - VR-8 @ tip. VR-7 [w/ std. 12% thickness] @ 70% of span; modified by increasing thickness as moving toward root.

Helicopter Disk and Power SpecificationsSpan: Since this airfoil grouping has a better lift/drag ratio than the NACA 00xx, perhaps these blades should have a shorter span than the NACA 00xx blades.

Consider increasing taper to shorten moment arms even more, plus increase the size and strength of the inboard portion of the blade. First plot downwash over combined disk area.Note: Twist and taper decrease the length of the moment arm, which reduces loads on the radial and axial pitch bearings, plus the hub to static mast bearing(s).
Feathering Axis: - Locate at 33% of chord at root and 25% of chord at tip.
Center of Gravity: - Locate at ??% of chord
Aspect Ratio: Want it to be slightly smaller than normal for blade strength and shorter moment arm.
Forces: All taken by root bearings, except for twist.
Consider the idea of taking the spar and torque tube, which was developed for the NACA 00xx, and milling it on the CNC to suit the NACA 230xx. Overlay the spar over the NACA 230xx a various sections to see if it should work.
