UniCopter ~ Control - Flight - Swishring *

Overview:

A means of locating the flight control device (ref swashplate and spider) inside the rotor hub; to decrease drag and reduce the vertical clearance between hub and fuselage.

The Swishring could be an inflexible and thereby serve the basic 1/P control function.

Alternatively; -

A means of providing Higher Harmonic Control.

A circular track, located in the rotor-hub, within which, or about which, cam followers move. The cam follower is linked by an arm to the blade so as to affect the blade's pitch. The plane of the swashring can be tilted and thereby impart a 1/revolotion cyclic to the blades. As well, it can be vertically deformed and thereby impart harmonic higher than 1P to the blades.

This concept might be employed on the root control of the Independent Root & Tip (IRAT) concept.

* Origin of the name Swishring.
