Preliminary Notes:
Using a larger diameter mast and no drive frame around it will result in the mast handling (1) torque, (2) pitch & roll moments and (3) thrust. A separate drive frame will only remove (2) and perhaps (3). The long mast will have a long moment arm to handle (2). Note that the rotating mast must be isolated from the pilot and his clothing. This could be done by having the fuselage pass back behind the bulkhead somewhat.
This 3-point contact of the drive frame to the fuselage is only valid if the single lower point can be quite low on the back of the seat.
February 3, 2005 ~ The mast must have a larger diameter (and strength) if the drive train does not go up to the upper bearings, which are located just under the swashplate. Perhaps the only hard bracing on these upper bearings is that of tying them together. The fuselage will handle the yaw, pitch and roll.

The masts must be stronger than the original masts to handle the moments from the CVJ+HS rotors.
