Additional Information on Governor Even More Information on Governor
Maintain constant 100% (operational) RRPM by varying the collective blade pitch:
Manual Overriding of Governor:
The low limit pitch setting is preset on the ground and cannot be changed by the pilot during flight.
Collective Lever:
Semi - jump take-off:
Should the pilot wish to perform a vertical takeoff, he can override the 2-position torque pitch change and hold the blade pitches down at their minimal profile drag settings until liftoff. This will cause the blades to have a higher RRPM, and more inertia, at the time of lift off.
Flare During Autorotation Landing:
The pilot has the ability to raise the collective during an engine-out landing. This allow for some of the rotor inertia to be consumed.
