EEStor:

To Rick;

This is the patent of the company that Zenn bought into.
http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=7,033,406.PN.&OS=PN/7,033,406&RS=PN/7,033,406
or go to http://patft.uspto.gov/netahtml/PTO/srchnum.htm and enter the patent number 7,033,406.
From patent;
"the capability to store electrical energy in the range of 52 kWh. The total weight of an EESU with this range of electrical energy storage is about 336 pounds."
5 lbs per hp-hr

From Rick;

Interesting that with these specs, a unit providing 12Kwh would weigh approx. 78 lbs. This would give us about an hour flight, considering takeoff of 1 min to altitude and cruising at 45% power. Not bad. The big bonus is never having to replace the unit for the life of the helicopter.

GenSet (Turbine and Generator):

And separate electric rotor for both rotors (and propulsor).

UltraCapacitors:

Note

Fuel Cell:

Millennium Cell ~ http://www.millenniumcell.com/fw/main/tech_adv_hold_-106.html, They appear to be talking about 7100 Wh/kg and 6000 Wh/kg

Other:

Safety: Consider equipping the craft with a capacitor that holds 10 seconds of full power. The capacitor would be activated by a switch and it's power would be used for flare from a full autorotation where the batteries power had been consumed or lost.

Extra Power for Initial Portion of Takeoff: Consider equipping the craft with a capacitor that holds 10 seconds of full power.
