Logic:

The both of the two motors [P(ort) & S(starboard)] will have their coils evenly split into two distinct windings arrangements. [1 & 2], each with 3 phases

P1 & S1 or alternatively R2 & S2 will have sensors (Hall effect, Encoder) or sensorless.

Therefore both rotors will still receive power, should there be a power failure in one of the independent electrical systems 1 or 2.

The amount of this power will be half of the combined power of 1 & 2. However, this single system can be overpowered for a short period of time during touchdown.

The two aero-rotors will be interlocked (mechanically or magnetically, etc).

It is assumed that a single system will deliver equal power to both motor-rotors and this will result in an equal collective pitch in both motors. Any imbalance would be very small and a subconscious lateral weight-shift will compensate for any desire to roll. There must also be compensation for the small amount of yaw that is produced. If the craft has a rudder, this yaw maybe negated in forward flight

Each of the two stator winding arrangements in each motor will probably be; ~ 6 in parallel and 1 in series, See; 1910.html for winding arraignments.

Misc. Notes:

The primary controller is responsible for the synchronizing of the two interleaving rotors.

It will very likly have a programmable controller and EEPROM so that the 'mixer box' etc can be done by coding. Also, modifications and other programs will be easier.

Safety Redundancy:

Spilt the electrical (not necessarily the physical) up into 4-only 3-phase units. Should one of the 3-phase power controller units fail, then the electronic controller will change the operation from 6-phase (w/ 1 unpowered phase) to a single 3-phase (w/ 1 unpowered phase).

Safety Power:

Consider the use of regeneration;

- at altitude to 'top up' capacitor..

-to decelerate the RRPM after an autorotative and/or normal landing , for safety.

Black Box:

Flight Recorder ~ to measure and record over time ~ RPM, Voltage, Amperage, Thrust, Pitch, Throttle position, Angles of gimbal, Airspeed.

Sensorless ~ Back-EMP Control:

The induced motor voltages (EMFs) required for load commutation of the motor-side converter are not available at standstill and at very low speeds (less than 10% of full speed).

Six-phase:

This will (should) allow for more ON time per 360º [(5/6) - (2/3) = 83.3% - 66.6% = 16.7%]
On F&P, 36 teeth (coils) / 6 phase / duplicity = 3 coils in series or parallel in synchronization.

Safety Control Switch:

The power On-Off switches (1 for each battery-pack). They must have a safety cover so that it requires two successive actions to change the position of one or both switches.
