To handle a maximum amps for chassis wiring of 245 Amp the wiring must be; AWG gauge 0, Conductor diameter 0.3249" (8.28246mm). Wire sizes. This will influance the smallest ID of the back support.
- Note that this wire might be single strand. Also, this diameter probably does not include the insulating cover.
- October 6, 2009, From Rick ~ I can tell you the Turnigy's wires are 1/4" O.D. (x3). I will have to ask Ed who has a pair of 37's what they are on that motor.
It appears that the solid wires (also called solid-core or single-strand wire) for the Predator 37 will be 3/8" diameter (+ sheathing?) and there will be 12 wires going up the rear leg from the batteries to the motors. 12 x 3/8" dia will require a 2" OD tube.
Stranded wires are calculated by calculating the equivalent cross sectional copper area.
If stranded wire is available in AWG gauge 0 and it does not significantly increase the overall diameter then seriously consider using it. Because; it should make the motion of the wire at the gimbal location better and the 12 cables might be slightly compressible so that it will fit better in the rear leg.

Will be renamed and moved along with the text to an Item page.
I assume that only 2 of the 3 phases will be in use a any one time. Therefore the current per wire will be 245 / 2 - 123 A. To handle a maximum amps for chassis wiring of 118 Amp the wiring must be; AWG gauge 5, Conductor diameter 0.1819" (4.28246mm). This may result in a reduction of the sheathed wire from the 3/8" diameter above.

- Rick has said that the 6 wires that come out of each Predator 37 motor are actually 3 wires with 2 connections each. This means that the amperage per wire will be 1/2 of the above. And the wiring down the back leg will be 123 A / 2 = 61.5 A. . To handle a maximum amps for chassis wiring of 64 Amp the wiring must be; AWG gauge 9, Conductor diameter 0.1144" (2.90576mm). Of course the stranded wire plus the sheathing will increase this diameter.

- Note that on future motors the voltage will be higher and this will mean that the wires can have a smaller diameter.

- Schulze future-l series:
- Maximum length inside the battery pack plus length between battery pack and the PCB of the Schultz future is 14". It is going to be more than 14". Will heavier cable do?
- Keep the cables to the motor as short as possible (max. length = 10 cm /4").
