MAKE: Workbench - B-axis - Assembly

Rotation about Y-axis.

Preliminary Considerations:

December 4, 2005 ~ Consider 12VDC windshield washer motor complete with its reduction and controls

Motor for B-axis:

A quick and dirty preliminary guess on MY part ~ 100 oz-in stepper motor. Convert to Servo

At point of work ~ 90 oz-in of torque @ 30 rpm. At motor ~ * 3 Guesstamite

The minimum voltage that the Gecko will handle is 18V.

Physical Demands on Motor: B-axis - Rotary:

Very small gearmotor with encoder for wrapping tow around root pins on spar.

Consider Pittman GM9413 - (1 to 5 depending on ratio). See #8 above.

Consider Globe: http://www.cadcamcadcam.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=61 However it needs a reducer.

Home and Travel Limit Sensors:
Consider using Parker Daedal units. This will give standardization on all three linear axes. Might also consider one of the units of the baby linear slide for B-axis home and or Limits.
