A 4 cylinder, 4 stroke engine will impart 1/rev rotational moments (spikes) to the drive train.

A 1 cylinder, 2 stroke engine will impart 1/rev rotational moments (spikes) to the drive train.

In both cases a torsional absorber must be incorporated.
