AeroVantage ~ Transition Mechanism - Flap
~ 2x4 ~
The following will be eventually to an Item page
Overview:
To decrease the aerodynamic interaction between the aft proprotor and the wing during transition.

Drawing:

Notes:
Changes to probably be made.
- Bring this proprotor further forward and the forward proprotor proportionally further aft. This will decrease the gap between the fore and aft proprotors.
- Modify the design so that the red OR the blue arm that connects to the motor as fixed at normal to the proprotor's axis of rotation. The reason for this is to get a stronger linkage.
- The type of mechanism may not be as shown. This page is only to record the idea for future consideration.
Alternative:
To get the proprotors closer together and/or to reduce the their aerodynamic interaction with the wing it may be less expensive and more reliable to decrease the wing's chord at the proprotors and make up for this loss of wing area outboard or inboard of the proprotors.
Alternative 2:
Have small 'cutout' sections of the wing move with the PropRotor/motors. When they seat them selves in the wing they will add greater strength to the transition mechanism during cruise.
