OTHER: Electrotor-Simplex ~ Concerns & Tasks

Overview:

A listing of Tasks, Potential Concerns and Thoughts, regarding the Electrotor-Gimbaled.

Concerns and Potential Solutions:

For the chosen Gimbaled w/ Torque/Pitch Collective & Teetering Drive [Item 1574]:

Note: the latest idea, which has the teetering hinge relocated to below the intersection of the X-Y planes of the blades, will probably move the aerodynamic center off of the mast axis during lateral flight and this may result in vibration.

See thread; http://www.rotaryforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15048

Think this through. Could build the latest which has the low CG and then add mass above the teetering hinge and notice the effect???

Drawing 1574_F.dc in the obsolete folder is the latest with the higher CG.

More:

Is there anyway that greater control can be incorporated? Hub - 3-blade CVJ w/ Hub Spring:, Springs on the gimbal hinges in leau of the vertical arm?, Even strong springs?, delta3?

Tasks (to do):

  1. Consider lowering, or spreading main bearings. Or replacing the two bearings with one larger
  2. Twistable Hub-bar: DESIGN: Electrotor-Simplex ~ Rotor - Hub - Overview of Composite Hub-Bar.
  3. Auto Collective: Ref. OTHER: Miscellaneous - Thoughtless Ideas - Auto-Collective Rotor Hub.
  4. Blade pitch upper and lower travel limit stops.
  5. Mechanically adjustable torque-pitch transfer. ??
  6. Teetering Stand 1554 maybe too weak at lower corners. Slightly increasing the vertical distance between the teetering axis and the main bearing set should do it.
  7. Consider locating the pitch and roll hinges (plus the main bearing(s) in the same plane. And, adding springs.
  8. Power Train - Frame:
  9. Extend the Teetering Stand to cover the seal on the Main Housing.
  10. Is the NEMA 34 reducer durable enough?
  11. Rotor - Hub - Pitch Assembly
  12. Encoder location. This must read the rotor not the motor due to the overrunning clutch. Probably locate the reader on (or in) the Main Housing and the read on the teetering stand.
  13. Torque Restraint: DESIGN: Electrotor-Simplex ~ Power Train - Torque Restrainer - Assembly.
  14. Do detail drawings.
  15. Electrical/Electronic Controllers: Ref. Electrotor-SloMo - Control (flight & power) - Wiring.
