Item 1507
OTHER:
Helicopter - Inside - Interleaving - Pros & Cons vs. Tandem
Tandem
Interleaving

Overview:
The Interleaving is truly symmetrical and it therefore realizes the many associated advantages.
I have always assumed that the Interleaving configuration was never pursued because of the large amount of thrust that it 'dumped' on the fuselage. Now, when looking at the plan views of the Interleaving helicopter and the Chinook tandem helicopter [below], there appears to be no discernable difference between the two craft; at least during hover. During cruise, today's tandem may have a slight advantage. However, if a slightly modified Active Blade Twist (ABT) concept is implemented, and nothing more, it has got to be 'goodbye tandem'. See; OTHER: Aerodynamic - Rotor Disk - Dual Configuration - Tandem ~ Downwash

Additional Advantages:
OTHER: Aerodynamic - Rotor Disk - Dual Configuration - Interleaving ~ Advantages

Concerns:
The inability to fold the rotor blades due to the extreme rigidity of the rotors. Swinging the complete rotors back and inward will reduce the footprint somewhat.
