• A far out idea from the Department of Demented Designs.
• It consists of two horizontal membranes with an air pocket blanket between. The air is pumped from above the blanket, through the upper membrane, into the blanket and then pumped down and out through the lower membrane. All this takes place at a very high frequency.

• The lifting device (air pump) consists of a horizontal 'blanket'.
• The 'blanket' consists of an upper membrane, an internal air gap with adjustable ribs, and a lower membrane.
• Both membranes consist of a single layer of parallel tows.
• The tows in both membranes run in the same direction.
• The internal air gap has a number of vertically aligned tows. These internal tows are aligned vertically as a 'rib'. The ribs are at right angles to the tows in the membranes. There are parallel ribs across the blanket with air channels between each rib.
• Each the tows in the two membranes and in the spacer ribs consist of an elastomeric rod, in which are located silk threads for tensional strength and magnetic threads.

• When all the tows in a membrane receive a like charge the tows repel each other. This causes the normally round tows to acquire a vertically elliptical shape, thereby open small gaps between the tows.
• When all the odd numbered tows in a membrane receive a positive (or negative) charge and the even numbered tows receive an opposite charge an attraction will be created between the tows. This causes the normally round tows to acquire a horizontally elliptical shape, thereby closing the small gaps between the tows.

• Every tow in a rib is bonded to the adjacent tow. The top tow is bonded to the tows in the upper membrane. The bottom tow is bonded to the tows in the lower membrane.
• When all the tows in all the ribs have a similar charge a magnetic repulsion between the tows will cause the space between the membranes to decrease.
• When all the odd tows in all the ribs have a negative charge and all the even tows have a positive charge, a magnetic attraction between the tows will cause the space between the membranes to increase.

• The following recursive activity takes place at a very high frequency.
• The upper membrane opens.
• The tows in the spacer ribs are attracted to each other, which causes the membranes to separate.
• The separation causes air to be drawn down and into the blanket.
• The upper membrane closes.
• The lower membrane opens.
• The tows in the spacer ribs are repelled from each other, which causes the membranes to close on each other.
• The closing causes air to be ejected downward out of the blanket.
• The lower membrane closes.
