DESIGN: ElectrotorPlus ~ MRGA - Reducer - General

• The horizontal base plate of the stator should probably have cooling fins, especially if it is cooling the motor as well.
• Have the top of the stator go above the top gear and curl inward so that the oil, which is flung by the gears, hits the back of the stator an cools it as it flows down to the base.
• Need an oil flinger.
• May need splash guard at top of stator to contain oil in chamber.
• Need an oil reservoir.
• Need fins on the rotor stator for cooling the oil.
• The high-speed gears will probably have to be the helical type.
• The speed limitation for spur gears is 1,500 feet per minute. The speed limitation for helical gears is 2,500 feet per minute.

 Overrunning Clutch:

• A clutch of the helicoidal type [Source ~ MH p.2246] may be required to operate between the ring gear and the rotorhub.
• Dog, Paul, Latch
• 4 or 8 of them will work with making blades of each rotor perpendicular (normal) for flight and parallel for transportation and storage.
• Is there a problem maintaining synchronization when starting or stopping rotors?
• If there is to be an interconnection between the two aerodynamic rotors then there must be overrunning clutches because one rotor can probably not drive the motor of the other unit due to the high reduction ration.
