Item 1316

DESIGN: SynchroLite ~ Power Train (for 1 engine) - Assembly - Layout - Belt & 2 Gear Sets (10)

Picture:

Drawing:

Notes:

  1. The overrunning clutch is inside the large pulley.
  2. Could put a type of gear set between the two masts just above the proper gears, to assure that the gears will always intermesh. Better yet, just use stronger gears.
  3. This arrangement is very similar to 1116; Power Train - 1 Engine - Assembly - Belt Primary & 4 Gears - Idea 9
  4. The 3-cylinder engine is about 5" longer than the 2-cylinder. This will be locate the output shaft 2.5" further out to the side and this might be better for the alignment of the sheaves. Or, shift the 2-cylinder engine over +/- 2.5". A thought ~ the 'lump' in the fuselage for the large sheave might be matched by a 'lump on the other side for the pivot and linkage for the collective lever.

Overrunning Clutch: These clutches maybe too light for the larger engine(s). Review & revise.

The overrunning clutch is to be located between the large pulley and the input shaft to the gearbox. The torque is 132 ft-lb and the shock loading, even though it is downstream from the belts, will be high. Power Train Access Form

Consider 2 Warner CSK 35 (Item 0568), Max. torque 207 ft-lb. Sprag. C/w brgs, 0.66 lbs.

Consider Warner CSK 40, (Item 0741) Max. torque 384 ft-lb. Sprag. C/w brgs?, 1.10 lbs. This weighs more but it means less material in adjoining items.

Consider 2 Marland-RINGSPANN R206 (Item 0524), Max. torque 195 ft-lb. No brgs. Keyway

Consider Marland-RINGSPANN R208 (Item 0141), Max. torque 450 ft-lb. No brgs. Keyway
