Overview:

Rotorhub for blades with Independent Root and Tip Control

Root Control:

The above sketch shows the root control. It could be for three or four blades.

The track could be a one-piece ring that is tilted and raised or lowered by three control points, as is a conventional swashplate. Alternatively, the ring could be flexible in the X-Y plane and thereby have four or more control points. Four points will provide a Higher Harmonic Control of 2/rev.

The intent is that the root control is actuated by power (perhaps hydraulic). The control of this will be by a relatively complex mixer box, or if need be by a computer controller.

Tip Control:

The tip control will consist of pitch links that are just inboard of the root pitch links and the two have a common axis. For 1/rev control, these tip pitch links can be connected to a swashplate or spider in a conventional manner.

The intent is that it be mechanically linked to the pilot's control sticks, without any mechanical assist.

They have a contact angle of 35º. These are not fully rotating therefor reverse rolling direction should not be a problem
