Mount a planetary gear and a single propeller on the tail boom. One engine drives the ring gear and the other engine drives the planet gear cage. There would be a ratchet clutch in both of the primary drive trains. If one engine should fail then the other engine will drive the prop at half speed.

Note that half the speed will draw much less than half the power. I.e. the one engine will provide less thrust than it could and should.
