DESIGN: UniCopter ~ Power Train - Assembly - Engine Vertical - All Gear

Overview:

Informatio related to a single engine, with a vertical crankshaft.

Engines can be Hirth H-30, but not Rotax 912.

The CG of the engine is about 8" behind the centerline of the masts. The fact that it is low may be advantageous for stability.

This transmission should work with the Hirth H30 and the Hirth H2706 engine.

The outside of the clutch is rotating. Perhaps;

Engine:

  1. Torsional Shock Absorber: Custom built device that connects the engine's shaft and the outside housing of the centrifugal clutch, Item 0942.
  2. Soft-start: SMC Axle Clutch, Item 0751
  3. Overrunning clutch: Located inside primary gearbox.
  4. Primary Reduction & Rotor Synchronization: 4-gear spiral bevel gearbox.
  5. Secondary Reductions: Two conventional 90-degree, 4:1 ratio, spiral bevel gears.
